Submissions open for 2016 Contests

We've got great news: Gazing Grain Press is now open for submissions of your feminist chapbook manuscripts!

This year, we're thrilled to announce that Rachel Eliza Griffiths will judge the 2016 Poetry/Hybrid Chapbook Contest and Lily Hoang will judge the 2016 Prose/Hybrid Chapbook Contest. You can read more about both judges below.

This year's contests will be open until May 8, 2016. You can find our contest guidelines and submit through Submittable here.

2016 Poetry/Hybrid Chapbook Contest Judge

Rachel Eliza Griffiths is a poet and visual artist. Her most recent collection of poetry, Lighting the Shadow, was published by Four Way Books in 2015. Her visual and literary work has appeared widely including The New York Times, American Poetry Review, Guernica, LitHub, Callaloo, American PEN Center, and many others. Currently, Griffiths teaches at Sarah Lawrence College and the Institute of American Indian Arts. She lives in Brooklyn.

2016 Prose/Hybrid Chapbook Contest Judge

Lily Hoang is the author of four books, including Changing, recipient of a PEN Open Books Award. She has two novels forthcoming: Old Cat Lady (1913 Books, 2016) and The Book of Martha (Insert Blanc Press, 2017). Her collection of essays A Bestiary won the inaugural Cleveland State University Poetry Center’s Nonfiction Contest and is forthcoming in 2016. With Joshua Marie Wilkinson, she edited the anthology The Force of What’s Possible: Writers on Accessibility and the Avant-Garde. She teaches in the MFA program at New Mexico State University, where she is Associate Department Head and Prose Editor at Puerto del Sol.
